I’ve been there. I’ve struggled with it. I thought life had dealt me a rather difficult hand. I was an overweight, under nourished, stressed out, exhausted, depressed, insecure, jealous, hopeless, self-righteous, over-achiever. Some of these things might be deemed genetic, while others simply come with the territory of growing up in modern times; where food is fast, television is truth, and work/life balance is a mockery.
In 1995, I was 18 years old, 5’5” and just over 200 pounds. I immediately went on a diet and started losing weight right away. As I continuously accomplished my goals, my discipline, which I believe is one of my greatest strengths, became an obsession and turned into years of chasing superficial intentions; excessive exercise and intense dieting. I look back on these times with both great appreciation for the hard work and determination it took me to pull off all that I was doing… but also with great sadness, that I was in constant competition with everything around me, mostly myself, and believing that the more fit my body was, the happier I would be.
I’m in my late-40’s now and a lot has changed. In short I will say this — Previously an ambitious runner and intense weight lifter, who was preoccupied with body dysmorphia, I have reconciled my motives to seeking deeper meaning in life and a more genuine relationship with myself, by virtue of the self-reflective, deeply transformational, healing practices of Yoga and the life enhancing, ancient wisdom of Ayurveda Medicine. While I am still in the process of becoming, I am healthy, I am free.
I am also dedicated to helping you tap into and develop your innate power by sharing these fundamentals in practical, innovative ways that bring about immediate shift in previously perceived limitations; physically, emotionally, energetically, mentally, spiritually... This can be achieved by blending ancient wisdom and modern practice, uniquely for each individual; aligning and integrating with the deep core of one’s self, body, mind, and spirit. Guiding people back to their own personal truth and inherent heartfelt joy is what I thrive on. It has been my experience that we are over doing, overthinking and over stressing about what could ultimately be a more simple and graceful process of life and evolution.
